New Compliance Software Helps Firms Meet EU Deforestation Regulation

Assent Inc. has rolled out a new software solution to help manufacturers comply with the European Union’s upcoming Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), set to take effect on December 30, 2025. The regulation will require companies to prove that goods entering the EU are deforestation-free, legally produced, and traceable to their land of origin.
Under the new rules, large and medium-sized firms must submit due diligence statements to ensure compliance. Companies that fail to meet these requirements risk losing access to the EU market and could face fines of up to 4% of their European revenues.
To address this challenge, Assent has introduced an AI-enhanced compliance platform designed to help manufacturers manage complex global supply chains. The solution enables businesses to assess risk exposure, engage with suppliers in multiple languages, and collect verified data for reporting. It also supports audit readiness and proactive risk management, making it easier for companies to demonstrate compliance.
“Assent is uniquely positioned to solve the scale and complexity challenges of EUDR compliance with our purpose-built software for manufacturers sourcing complex assemblies with indirect commodity risk,” shared Catherine Cormier, Chief Product Officer at Assent. “Our EUDR software builds on Assent’s core strengths, including advanced technology like AI, a proven supplier engagement model, and deep regulatory expertise. With this product launch, we are continuing to help manufacturers reduce operational risk and build stronger, more transparent supply chains that stand up to regulatory and partner scrutiny.”
The EU Deforestation Regulation is part of the bloc’s broader efforts to combat deforestation and ensure sustainable trade. By requiring companies to track sourcing at every level of the supply chain, the regulation aims to curb the environmental and social impacts tied to agricultural commodities such as soy, palm oil, cattle, and timber.

Assent’s new tool directly addresses one of the regulation’s toughest hurdles: Supplier engagement. Many companies struggle to obtain reliable data from smaller or distant suppliers, especially those outside of the EU. By combining AI with multilingual communication tools, the platform helps firms connect with these “hard-to-reach” suppliers, ensuring the accuracy of due diligence submissions.
The launch highlights growing pressure on manufacturers to embrace sustainable sourcing practices and prepare for stricter oversight. With less than two years until the deadline, companies are under increasing scrutiny from regulators and partners to prove that their products meet the EU’s deforestation-free trade standards.
By integrating compliance capabilities into its existing platform, Assent is positioning itself as a key partner for manufacturers navigating the shift toward greater supply chain transparency. As the deadline approaches, tools like this could play a critical role in helping businesses maintain access to one of the world’s largest markets while aligning with global sustainability goals.
