- With an estimated allocation of about €25 to €30 million, the fund aims to invest in 8 to 10 projects.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group's arm, the European Investment Fund (EIF), has invested €75 million in the Serena Infra II infrastructure fund.
The EIF specialises in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-cap companies. The object of this investment is to support innovation and sustainability across Europe.
The fund, managed by Serena Industrial Partners, a Spanish infrastructure investment firm, focuses on sustainable infrastructure and aims to reach a total size of €250 million, as well as fund early-stage infrastructure projects in sustainable mobility, water, social, and digital infrastructure, along with energy transition areas such as biogas, biomass, and energy efficiency.
It expects to invest in 8 to 10 infrastructure projects, with each receiving an average of €25 million to €30 million. These projects focus on green transport and clean energy solutions, which play an important role in the transition to a low-carbon economy and in building a more sustainable and resilient Europe.
In addition to this commitment, the EIF also supports the EIB Group’s 2024–2027 Strategic Roadmap for climate action and environmental sustainability. Backed by InvestEU, the initiative concentrates on achieving sustainable development and innovation, and on creating new job opportunities across the EU.
