Monta, a company providing electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has become an Associate Member of ChargeUK, the national trade association for the UK EV charging industry.
With this move, Monta joins titans, including Gridserve, Kempower, and Urban Fox, all involved in shaping UK EV policy and infrastructure.
The membership is an opportunity for Monta to impart its technical knowledge and associate with other members to chart the course on improving EV charging access and reliability.
The UK is currently shifting away from petrol and diesel vehicles.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), in June 2025, new petrol car registrations fell by 4.2%, while diesel registrations remained almost unchanged at 0.2%. At the same time, EV registrations touched 92,571, capturing a 48.5% market share, which is nearly half of all new car sales.

To meet the ever-growing demand for EVs, the UK government confirmed that about 84,000 public charge points were installed by August 2025.
This decidedly shows that the country is on course to reach the Department for Transport’s target of 300,000 public charge points by 2030.
Jon Evans, Head of Market for Monta in the UK and Ireland, said that the next five years are crucial for the EV sector. Monta plans to work with other ChargeUK members to influence policy, encourage investment, and improve access to reliable EV charging networks.
The company already operates a growing EV platform in Europe, trusted by over 500,000 users, and it aims to use its experience to support UK initiatives and legislation that promote swift EV adoption.
Vicky Reid, CEO of ChargeUK, highlighted that Monta’s membership reflects the industry’s shared aim to roll out convenient and affordable charging.
ChargeUK members have vowed to channel more than £6 billion by 2030 to deliver high-quality charging infrastructure, create jobs, and support the economic impact of the shift to EVs. Monta plans to contribute by focusing on open, interoperable, and intelligent charging systems, ensuring that both the hardware and software managing EV networks can meet the growing demand.

Evans added that the UK is moving in the right direction, but more work is needed. He pointed out that while installing charge point hardware is important, the real challenge lies in software systems that connect, manage, and optimise charging.
By collaborating through ChargeUK, Monta and other members can address challenges EV drivers face and plan for a future where the charging network meets the needs of millions of users.
