Flexible Working Environments, Employee Rights Highlighted Within New UAE Labour Law: Officials
Flexible working environments, as well as the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers, were addressed as ‘important pillars’, according to UAE officials who spoke during an awareness-raising lecture on the new UAE labour law.
The Abu Dhabi Labour Court, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADDCI), delivered the titled “Employers’ Rights and Obligations under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 Concerning the Regulation of Labour Relations“, the state-run news agency, Wam, reported.
Judge Ali Hasan Alshateri, the Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, reviewed the most important provisions of the law and the scope of its implementation.
The new labour law has developed new working patterns as part of a forward-looking approach to ensure more flexibility through the options of part-time, temporary, flexible or remote employment, the judge explained.
This flexible deployment of workers within enterprises and companies makes it possible to leverage the expertise and skills employed, he added.
The lecture also dealt with the role of the new labour legislation in creating an attractive environment for investors and skilled labour.
The new labour law attempts to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the labour market in the country while guaranteeing the rights of both parties to the contractual relationship and protecting them in a balanced manner.
Judge Ali Hasan Alshateri said that this new labour law creates a balance between the rights and obligations of workers and employers.
With the various safeguards that it provides, the new law helps to attract and retain the most qualified workforce and employees.
In addition, it helps create an attractive business environment that encourages investment in the UAE, which is a destination for major international companies.
These companies and their employees are backed by a developed judicial system that keeps pace with all changes and developments.
The awareness initiative was launched by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) under the directives of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the ADJD, to consolidate legal literacy as one of the most important pillars supporting the rule of law.
