AIG Recruits Executive vice president and AIG's chief risk officer, Tom Bolt

Tom Bolt, 65, has been named executive vice president and chief risk officer of American International Group, Inc. effective right away. Sabra Purtill, who recently assumed the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for AIG's Life & Retirement business, is replaced by Mr. Bolt. Mr. Bolt has joined the AIG Executive Leadership Team

"Tom has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries, and since joining AIG in 2018, he has played a crucial part in the turnaround of our General Insurance business by setting standards for underwriting excellence and taking the lead in strengthening our culture while reshaping our portfolio,"

said Peter Zaffino, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, AIG.

"As we continue to concentrate on managing complex, operational, and global risk issues at AIG, his distinctive background, experience, and stature in our industry will be invaluable. In this new position, I'm looking forward to working with Tom as we develop our risk management strategy for our international business."

In addition, David McElroy, executive vice president and chief executive officer of general insurance, has named 48-year-old Kean Driscoll chief underwriting officer of general insurance, effective immediately. Mr. Driscoll has held the positions of Global Head of Reinsurance Strategy for General Insurance since 2020 and Global Chief Underwriting Officer for Property/Agriculture since 2019.

"Kean has been a key contributor to our portfolio management and in forming our strategic reinsurance structures since joining AIG in 2018," Mr. Zaffino continued. His underwriting and modeling experience will help us continue on our path to becoming a top-performing company as he serves as chief underwriting officer.

Since 2018, Mr. Bolt has held the position of Chief Underwriting Officer for General Insurance. He was a member of the board of directors of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Ltd. and the president and CEO of the U.K. and Southern Europe at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance before joining AIG. Before that, Mr. Bolt worked for Lloyd's of London as the director of performance management and the managing director of the Marlborough Managing Agency. He worked for Berkshire Hathaway for 25 years in a variety of senior executive positions before joining Lloyd's. Mr. Bolt graduated from Northwestern University with an M.M. in Marketing and Finance and a B.A. in English Literature and Economics.

Since 2020, Mr. Driscoll has held the positions of Global Head of Reinsurance Strategy for General Insurance and Global Chief Underwriting Officer for Property and Agriculture for General Insurance. He was a founding member of Validus and led the company as CEO from 2012 until he joined the Chief Underwriting Office of AIG General Insurance in 2019. He has worked as a reinsurance underwriter for more than 25 years and has previously held executive positions with Quanta Re and Zurich Re N.A. (Converium).

Driscoll has an MBA with honors from Columbia University and a B.A. in literature from Colgate University.
