EcoVadis Supplier Network Aims to Close the Sustainability Execution Gap

Takeaways
- EcoVadis has launched a peer-to-peer Supplier Network to help rated companies collaborate on sustainability challenges.
- The move aims to close the “execution gap” between sustainability ratings and real operational change.
- The initiative comes as companies face rising regulatory scrutiny and growing pressure to manage Scope 3 emissions and supply chain risk.
Paris-based sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis is moving beyond scorecards. The company has launched a dedicated peer-to-peer Community platform for suppliers that have received an EcoVadis Rating, creating what could become one of the world’s largest vetted sustainability networks.
Since its founding, EcoVadis has rated more than 150,000 companies, adding over 25,000 new rated firms in the past year alone. With that scale, supplier performance is no longer a secondary concern. For multinational buyers facing regulatory pressure and investors closely tracking Scope 3 emissions, supply chain resilience has become central to governance and long-term value creation.
Yet many suppliers, particularly small and mid-sized firms, struggle to turn sustainability assessments into measurable action. EcoVadis says this disconnect creates an “execution gap” where companies have the data but lack the internal bandwidth, expertise, or trusted forums to implement change.

Closing the Execution Gap
Corporate sustainability commitments remain largely intact despite political headwinds and evolving regulatory frameworks across the US and Europe. According to EcoVadis, internal data shows that companies are integrating sustainability more deeply into core strategy, even as public discourse becomes more polarized.
At the same time, collaboration is proving critical. The company cites research showing that 91% of teams build new capabilities more effectively when working together. For suppliers operating with lean ESG teams, shared learning can make a measurable difference.
“A sustainability rating is more than a score; it is a signal for change. But real value is created through the action that follows,” said Pierre-François Thaler, cofounder and co-CEO of EcoVadis. He added that while some narratives suggest sustainability efforts are slowing, the company’s data indicates the opposite. “The narrative that sustainability is slowing down is a myth; our data shows that behind the scenes, businesses are actually integrating it more deeply into their DNA,” he said.
The new Supplier Network is designed to unlock what the company calls “collective intelligence.” It allows rated companies to connect in a private, moderated portal to exchange insights, share case studies, and participate in focused “Expert Circles” covering themes such as circular economy strategies, regulatory compliance, ethical labor practices, and decarbonizing logistics.
From Ratings Platform to Ecosystem
The launch reflects a broader shift in ESG markets. Ratings are increasingly seen as entry points into deeper ecosystem engagement. Companies are under pressure to demonstrate credible oversight of supply chain risks, especially as regulations such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive tighten expectations around transparency and accountability.
Investors are also scrutinizing how firms manage climate risks, labor standards, and governance vulnerabilities embedded within supplier networks. A collaborative infrastructure, EcoVadis argues, could help lower compliance costs, accelerate audit readiness, and reduce reputational exposure.
For C-suite leaders and board directors, the message is clear: Supply chain sustainability is no longer just a reporting requirement. It is a governance priority directly tied to operational continuity and financial resilience.

As global supply chains navigate geopolitical fragmentation, climate volatility, and regulatory tightening, peer networks may prove just as important as data dashboards. With its new Supplier Network, EcoVadis is betting that connection, not just measurement, will define the next phase of sustainable supply chain performance.
