Osmosis NL, a Rotterdam-based investment management firm, has expanded its credit team with the recruitment of three experienced fixed income professionals from Robeco — Reinout Schapers, Taeke Wiersma, and Jan Anton Van Zanten.
The appointments come as the Rotterdam-based firm activates its presence with more vigour in the sustainable fixed income market.
The trio reunites with Victor Verberk, the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, who previously worked with them during his tenure at Robeco.

Formed in January this year, Osmosis NL operates as an affiliate of Osmosis Investment Management and concentrates on sustainable bond investments.
The venture was created by Verberk and Ben Dear, CEO and founder of the Osmosis Group, following Verberk’s career break after 16 years at Robeco. The firm has been building its capabilities to expand its fixed income platform in Europe.
Reinout Schapers spent nearly 14 years at Robeco before taking a sabbatical in April. He managed the $2.2bn Robeco Global SDG Credits Fund, which delivered a 16.9% return over three years against the Citywire Bonds–Global Corporates sector average of 19.4%. Schapers also headed the European High Yield segment at Aegon Asset Management between 2006 and 2011.
Taeke Wiersma brings over 16 years of experience from Robeco, where he served as head of credit research. Before joining Robeco, he spent six years at Aegon Asset Management as a portfolio manager.
Meantime, Jan Anton Van Zanten, who will join Osmosis NL on 1 November, spent five years at Robeco as an SDG strategist on the Sustainable Development Goals desk. He has also worked with Steward Redqueen, a consultancy focused on impact and sustainability, and the United Nations.

According to Ben Dear, CEO and Founder of the Osmosis Group, the recruitment of the trio marks a step towards expanding Osmosis NL’s fixed income platform.
He said their combined experience would help the firm pursue its goal of achieving sustainability-driven outcomes for its clients. Earlier in July, the sustainable bonds boutique launched its first funds in the Ucits market, which marked its entry into sustainable credit investment strategies.
