Mondelēz International's Net-Zero Goals Get SBTi Approval

Mondelēz International (MDLZ) announced a milestone in their sustainability journey. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated their greenhouse gas reduction goals for 2030 and their ambitious target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

"We are proud to have SBTi approve our 2030 targets and our 2050 net-zero target as it further strengthens our commitment to more sustainable snacking," said Christine Montenegro McGrath, Chief Impact and Sustainability Officer. "We are on our way toward our net-zero ambition and helping make sustainability a reality.”

Mondelēz International's approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) prioritises creating large-scale, lasting change. They focus on impactful solutions, measurable progress, and collaboration to drive industry-wide improvements. Their strategy for achieving net-zero emissions tackles key areas and builds upon existing goals.

The company has already made impressive progress in 2023:

  • Reduced CO2e emissions across their operations.
  • Increased renewable energy use in manufacturing.
  • Designed nearly all packaging to be recyclable.
  • Set themselves on track to eliminate deforestation in key material sources by the end of 2025.

These efforts support Mondelēz International's Vision 2030 strategy, which prioritises sustainability as a core principle.
