Iveco Group N.V. and Hyundai Motor Company have proudly introduced the groundbreaking IVECO BUS E-WAY H2 during the Busworld 2023 event in Brussels.

This cutting-edge, hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric bus is a result of the mutually beneficial partnership that both companies announced in March 2022.

It underscores their unwavering dedication to expediting the transition toward carbon-neutral mobility and transportation. The E-WAY H2 joins the lineup of IVECO BUS zero-emission urban solutions, which already features the latest Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

The E-WAY H2, a 12-meter-long, low-floor city bus, boasts a 310-kW electric motor and a state-of-the-art fuel cell system provided by HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group's hydrogen-based business brand.

Equipped with four tanks capable of storing a combined 7.8 kg of hydrogen and a 69 kWh battery pack engineered by FPT Industrial, Iveco Group's powertrain technology specialist, the vehicle offers an impressive driving range of 450 km under typical operating conditions.

This innovative E-WAY H2 model facilitates both hydrogen refuelling and plug-in battery charging. This hybrid mid-power concept from IVECO BUS maximises the effectiveness and robustness of the onboard battery pack and fuel cell system while also streamlining the vehicle's charging process.

Ken Ramirez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle & Hydrogen Business at Hyundai Motor Company, expressed, "Hyundai has been a pioneer and leader in hydrogen technology for 25 years and is a globally recognised leader in hydrogen fuel cell mobility and commercial transport.

"We firmly believe that this energy source is one of the fundamental cornerstones for achieving a sustainable society, and we are thrilled to share this vision with our partner, Iveco Group. Today's unveiling is yet another tangible example of our robust partnership and commitment to accelerating the industry's transition to net-zero emissions while advancing our mission of progress for humanity."

Domenico Nucera, President of the Bus Business Unit at Iveco Group, added, "We take immense pride in introducing our hydrogen-powered E-WAY H2. This remarkable milestone on our sustainability journey is the result of our fruitful collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company and underscores that by harnessing our collective strengths, we can nurture an eco-friendly public transportation system that combats climate change and paves the way for a healthier future for generations to come."

The E-WAY H2 will be manufactured at the IVECO BUS facilities in Annonay, France, and Foggia, Italy. The vehicle is currently on display at the IVECO BUS booth in Hall 4 during Busworld 2023, running from October 7th to October 12th.
