Bota Bio and Medichem Announce Partnership to Improve Sustainable Pharmaceutical Production
Bota Bio, a global industrial biotechnology company advancing sustainable biomanufacturing, and Medichem, a vertically integrated pharmaceutical company engaged in the process development and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and finished dosage forms (FDF), announced a commercial development collaboration to improve sustainability while reducing API manufacturing costs.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bota Bio and Medichem will work together to advance two high-value API programmes. Bota Bio will develop novel enzymes to catalyse efficient, environmentally sustainable manufacturing procedures that reduce the use of expensive reagents and intermediates. Medichem will be in charge of the API's research, scale-up, manufacture, and commercialisation from its facilities in Spain and Malta.
