The "Fontavis ESG Renewable Infrastructure Fund II" invests in unlisted clean energy and infrastructure assets and companies. The fund's goal is to establish a globally diverse portfolio of direct infrastructure energy investments and is open to qualified investors looking to invest in a sector with promising growth potential.

Swiss Life Asset Managers has created "Fontavis ESG Renewable Infrastructure Fund II," the successor to the first international fund, "Fontavis ESG Renewable Infrastructure Fund Europe."

The newly established fund complements the previous clean energy funds. It is now the fourth renewable energy fund and the second fund that invests globally.

The "Fontavis ESG Renewable Infrastructure Fund II" will build on the previous fund's successful strategy by focusing on high-quality investments in the renewable and clean energy sectors.

It intends to establish a diverse portfolio of unlisted assets centred on energy generation from renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydro, and biomass, as well as storage and renewable fuels, with a concentration on OECD countries.

The fund is open to qualified investors and has a target size of EUR 750 million, with the first close scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

The fund will be advised by a dedicated renewables team that builds solid, long-term partnerships with project developers, energy firms, investors, public authorities, and other stakeholders to provide clients with substantial investment opportunities.

Christoph Gisler, Head of Infrastructure Equity at Swiss Life Asset Managers, said:

"We are proud of our strong track record and alignment of interest with our investors as we invest substantial amounts in the fund as well. The fund builds on the success of the predecessor fund while adapting to the ever-changing market environments."

Marc Schürch, Head of Renewable Energy at Swiss Life Asset Managers, said:

"In line with our strategy, we want to apply our deep know-how of the energy sector and invest in all fields of the energy transition. As such, we contribute on behalf of our investors to make electricity generation, heat supply and mobility more sustainable."

“Fontavis ESG Renewable Infrastructure Fund II” will be classified as an Art. 8 funds under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). Swiss Life Asset Managers is a member of GIIA (Global Infrastructure Investment Association), GRESB and is a signatory of the UNPRI.
