€60M Funding to Drive Makersite’s Product Sustainability Efforts

In Short
- The manufacturing industry is responsible for nearly 19% of global emissions.
- Makersite's platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.
- Their unique approach treats sustainability as a balance between cost, safety, and environmental impact.
Makersite, the German company developing next-generation data management tools for manufacturing businesses, has secured €60 million in Series B funding.
The proceeds raised will be used to meet the company's objective of making every product as affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly as possible, using AI and automation, as well as expand its technology, grow its team, and upgrade its services for clients.
The funding round, co-led by Lightrock and Partech, also included SE Ventures and previous investors, including Hitachi Ventures and Planet A.
As pressure builds on the global manufacturing industry to address supply chain and climate impact risks, owing to its share of about 19% of global emissions, more businesses are on the lookout for services to support sustainable product design. This is where Makersite’s platform comes in, helping manufacturing firms make informed decisions at every product development stage.
The AI-powered platform begins its work by organising unorganised data from companies, then combines it with a large database that includes information on material costs, environmental impact, compliance rules, and manufacturing processes, giving manufacturers a clear picture of their products and supply chains.
It also helps them analyse trade-offs between cost, carbon emissions, product safety, and legal compliance in real time, as well as support reporting.
Neil D’Souza, CEO and Founder of Makersite, said: "This investment marks a critical milestone in our mission to make sustainable product design the default.
"Securing this level of commitment—especially in today’s uncertain economic and geopolitical environment—demonstrates the strength of our business case and the urgency of our mission. The funding will allow us to accelerate platform development, deepen integration with our technology partners, and scale our impact globally.”
Makersite's growing global clientele includes top companies such as Microsoft and Schneider Electric, which have already started using the platform.
