ICR Appoints Gabriel Hasson to Lead Global Governance & Shareholder Advisory

ICR, a leading strategic communications and advisory firm, has appointed Gabriel Hasson as Global Head of Governance & Shareholder Advisory. Based in New York, Hasson will oversee a team dedicated to guiding company management and boards on a range of governance priorities.
These include investment fund stewardship engagement, ESG and bylaw policy strategy, shareholder activism, and proxy contest advisory.
Hasson brings extensive experience in governance and investment stewardship, joining ICR from BlackRock’s Investment Stewardship team. At BlackRock, he served as Director for six years, managing a portfolio exceeding $400 billion across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. His work spanned the pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, and consumer sectors. Notably, he developed and led BlackRock’s stewardship strategy in Latin America, establishing the firm’s governance presence in seven countries across the region.

During his tenure, Hasson engaged regularly with Boards of Directors and senior executives, becoming a recognized thought leader in governance, sustainability, and shareholder engagement. He authored several articles and participated in nearly 200 speaking engagements and media interviews.
Earlier in his career, Hasson practiced as an M&A attorney advising multinational corporations on complex cross-border transactions. He later held senior roles at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and Deloitte, where he provided counsel on shareholder engagement, governance reform, and ESG integration for federal governments and Fortune 500 companies.

Hasson holds a law degree from Universidad Panamericana and a certificate in U.S. Law from The George Washington Law School. He also earned a master’s in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a certificate in Corporate Finance from Cornell University.
