Volkswagen’s All-Electric Vehicles Account for 8.3% of Sales

- Low sales are reported in the Chinese market owing to certain challenges.
- Several electric brands within the company are performing well, including ID.3 and ID.4/ID.5.
- Europe buys the most BEVs, accounting for 68% of total BEV deliveries.
In the first half of 2025, the Volkswagen Group increased its global sales of all-electric vehicles (BEVs) by about 50%, the company announced.
Electric vehicles are now becoming an important part of the company's business. So far, it has delivered approximately 317,200 BEVs worldwide, and they presently account for around 8.3% of all Volkswagen Group vehicle sales globally.
Europe remains the Group’s largest market for electric vehicles, with 217,100 BEV deliveries during the period, accounting for close to 68% of total BEV deliveries. The United States logged 41,000 BEV sales with an uptick in demand. However, some market-related issues caused sales in China to plummet.

Different brands within the Group are also delivering positive results, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand is selling the most BEVs, with 192,000 units sold. Among others, Audi sold around 75,900 BEVs; Škoda, 31,300; SEAT/CUPRA, 21,100; and Porsche, 19,100. This shows that almost all of the company’s cars are heading towards electrification.
From January to June 2025, electric models that captured customers' interest included the Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5, selling roughly 101,200 units, followed by the ID.3 and the Audi Q4 e-tron, with around 49,800 and 48,000 units respectively, expanding Volkswagen’s market share in the global electric car market.
The Group's expectations are running high for the second half of the year, as new models like the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan Electric make their debut in the market later this year. Despite facing increasing competition in the Chinese market, the company says that it is on the right track with its electric vehicle strategy.

Marco Schubert, Member of the Group’s Extended Executive Committee for Sales, said: "The Volkswagen Group continues to have strong momentum thanks to many newly launched models. This applies especially to all-electric vehicles, with global deliveries up by around 50 per cent in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
"We need to further strengthen this positive development by continuing our successful model offensive. Overall, we were able to slightly increase our global deliveries by the end of June despite challenging conditions. Gains in South America and Europe more than offset the expected declines in China and North America.”
