Sironix Raises $3.5M for Renewable Chemicals Sector

The fund will be used to expand the production of plant-based alternatives, replacing harmful chemicals in the consumer products market.
Partnerships with major consumer brands in the US will make sustainable cleaning products readily available.
Sironix Renewables, a company that turns plants into eco-friendly personal care & cleaning ingredients, has raised $3.5 million in a new funding round to meet the growing demand for green ingredients and cater to the cleaning product and personal care industries.
The financing round was led by Oval Park Capital and Arosa Ventures, along with other investors like SNØCAP, EGB Capital, and the University of Minnesota. In addition, Sironix has received $7 million in grants and partnership funding from organisations, including the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the United Soybean Board.
The proceeds will go into developing plant-based, non-toxic alternatives to traditional chemical ingredients. For instance, the company's first product, Eosix® Surfactant, is made wholly from plants and is free from sulfates and 1,4-dioxane (a probable carcinogen) as well as augurs well in hard and cold water, where plant-based cleaners have previously faced difficulties.

Sironix CEO and co-founder Christoph Krumm, said: "We are committed to working with our partners to launch high-performance and safer products that are also better for the environment.
“This additional funding will enable us to rapidly transition from bench-scale to pilot-scale to high-volume manufacturing, taking us one step closer to our mission of becoming the premier supplier of non-toxic, high performance and eco-friendly ingredients for the cleaning product and personal care industries.”
Also, their manufacturing process is sustainable, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 52% compared to traditional petrochemical alternatives.

The new funding will help Sironix expand from small-scale (bench-scale) production to larger-scale (pilot and high-volume) manufacturing to supply more brands with sustainable ingredients. To this end, it has partnered with major consumer brands for industrial applications. They believe that new, high-performance ingredients play a constructive role in making consumer products safer and more sustainable.
“A major focus area for Arosa in recent years has been the renewable chemicals sector,” said Peter Chidyllo, Managing Director at Arosa. “Sironix is one of the few technologies that affords superior end-product qualities and a notable reduction in emissions, while being cost competitive with traditional incumbents.”
