Avangrid's Green Sweep: 14 ESG Awards

Avangrid, Inc., a proud member of the Iberdrola Group, has recently celebrated an impressive array of achievements, securing a total of 14 awards and accolades in 2023 spanning Environmental, Social, Governance, and Financial Stewardship (ESG+F).

This remarkable feat solidifies Avangrid's position as a forefront sustainable energy company. Notably, Avangrid Chairman Ignacio Galán has been honoured with three prestigious awards from Time Magazine, the Foreign Policy Association, and the World Jurist Association this year.

Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid, expressed pride in the year's accomplishments, emphasising the awards as a testament to their dedication to forging a clean energy future in collaboration with the Iberdrola Group. Azagra anticipates continued growth and fortification of their commitments as they approach the new year.

In recognition of his visionary contributions, Ignacio Galán received the inaugural ESG Leadership Award from The Foreign Policy Association, acknowledging his resolute commitment to integrating ESG+F principles into the core strategy of the Iberdrola Group.

He was also honoured with the Medal of Honor from the World Jurist Association for leadership in advancing clean energy and ESG+F principles. Furthermore, Galán earned a spot on the inaugural TIME100 Climate List, recognising the 100 most influential leaders propelling climate action in the business world.

Avangrid's notable accolades for 2023 include being listed among America's Climate Leaders by USA Today, receiving the Best Corporate Governance award from World Finance, and earning a place on the 2030 Club by Smart Electric Power Alliance for their ambitious carbon reduction commitments.

Other accolades encompass compliance leadership, emergency assistance efforts, inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series, recognition in Bloomberg's Gender-Equality Index, an acknowledgement in the JUST 100 ranking, designation as the Most Sustainable Company in the Electric Services Industry, inclusion in the 2023 Sustainability Yearbook by S&P Global, recognition as a Top Innovator for their Cyber Security Simulation in Metaverse project, a high rank in the 2023 Utility Decarbonization Report, and acknowledgement among the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere.
