Schneider Electric Tops Global Rankings as Most Sustainable Company

For the second time, Schneider Electric has been crowned the world’s most sustainable company, a recognition jointly awarded by Corporate Knights and, for the first time, by TIME magazine and Statista. This global acknowledgment places the France-headquartered energy management and automation firm firmly at the forefront of sustainable corporate leadership.
Corporate Knights has been tracking sustainable business practices since 2005, analyzing publicly traded companies with revenues over $1 billion. According to its CEO, Toby Heaps, sustainable revenues are now growing twice as fast as traditional revenues among the 3,000 largest global firms they monitor, accounting for over $5 trillion annually.
TIME and Statista’s evaluation of sustainable growth factored in three categories: Financial performance (growth rate and stability), and environmental impact (emissions, waste, energy, and water usage). Schneider Electric scored an impressive 93.85, taking the top spot.
What Sets Schneider Electric Apart?
Schneider’s leadership in sustainability is not by accident. The company has anchored its strategy around six long-term commitments: Climate, Resources, Trust, Equal, Generations, and Local. Unlike traditional firms, Schneider has adopted a multi-hub headquarters model, empowering teams globally to make regionally relevant decisions, a move that enhances agility and inclusivity.
Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer since June 2025, believes it takes passion and vision to lead sustainably. “To succeed, we must collaborate across the value chain driving partnerships and innovation to transform how we all operate,” she wrote on LinkedIn.

Decarbonization and Biodiversity Goals
At the heart of Schneider’s climate strategy is an ambitious net-zero roadmap, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims to reduce emissions by 25% across its value chain by 2030, achieving full net zero by 2050. It plans to reach this target using green tariffs, renewable energy certificates, power purchase agreements, and on-site energy generation.
The company is also working toward no net biodiversity loss at all operational sites by 2030. Its plan includes water conservation initiatives and site-specific biodiversity restoration projects.
Building Trust and Promoting Equality
Trust and transparency underpin Schneider’s ESG commitments. The company maintains a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and encourages a culture of business integrity.
On the equality front, Schneider is actively narrowing the gender pay gap, supporting flexible work policies, and promoting diverse leadership. Today, seven women sit on its Executive Committee. Natalya Philogene, Group Head of Internal Control, notes, “The diversity of our leadership is not just a statistic. Our multi-hub model, which often intrigues those outside Schneider Electric, is a source of innovation, attractiveness for talents and inspiration for the younger generation.”
Supporting Generations and Local Communities
Beyond sustainability metrics, Schneider invests in people and communities. Its Career Week events span over 100 countries, and 90% of employees undergo regular digital upskilling. The company uses AI-driven talent platforms to connect employees with internal opportunities for projects, mentorship, and growth.
Through its VolunteerIn programme, Schneider employees engage in mentoring, community development, and sustainability projects. Over the past two years, the company has launched over 200 local initiatives.
As Melanie Weber-Schwabe, HR Business Partner, aptly put it: “Schneider Electric has been named one of the most sustainable companies in the world; this recognition didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of decades of bold decisions, hard work, and a clear purpose: to empower everyone to make the most of our energy and resources, bridging progress and sustainability for all.”
