On National Energy Conservation Day in India, Vedanta Aluminium, India's largest aluminium manufacturer, releases its Sustainable Development (SD) Report for FY 2021–22, titled 'Accelerating to Net Zero'.

The report summarises the company's performance across key sustainability dimensions such as economic performance, supply chain management, climate change and energy management, air quality and emissions control, water management, biodiversity management, waste to wealth, safety, health and well-being, people excellence, community welfare, and so on.

Vedanta Aluminium has also released its first climate change report, titled 'Road to Net Zero Carbon,' which is consistent with the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures, or TCFD framework. The goal of the report is to tell the company's stakeholders about business opportunities, climate management plans, the company's commitment to climate change, and the company's performance in this area.

Mr Rahul Sharma, CEO – Aluminium Business, Vedanta Ltd., said:

“We are pleased to launch the Sustainable Development Report and TCFD Report of Vedanta Aluminium for FY 2021-22, both of which highlight the progress in our climate action endeavours.

"We are on a mission to align incentives for growth with imperatives for the planet. Our determination to build a Net Zero climate-resilient aluminium business is equally matched by our commitment to improving the quality of lives of those around us, with the knowledge that both are contingent on the environment. As a result, we have redesigned our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) roadmap, with milestone targets for 2030 and 2050, focusing on increasing renewable energy consumption, carbon reduction, water conservation, and waste utilisation."

Vedanta Aluminium, a division of Vedanta Limited, is India's largest aluminium manufacturer, producing more than half of the country's aluminium, or 2.27 million tonnes in FY22. It is a market leader in value-added aluminium products with vital applications in core sectors. Vedanta Aluminium is ranked fourth in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2021 world rankings for the aluminium industry, reflecting its commitment to sustainable development. With its world-class aluminium smelters, alumina refineries, and power plants in India, the firm can fulfil its purpose of promoting the development of applications for aluminium as the "Metal of the Future" for a greener tomorrow.
