The grantees this year will benefit local communities all across the world and will receive a total of $3 million. Global Give abandoned employee voting in favour of trust-based philanthropy-based decision-making. The Foundation collaborates with nonprofit organisations that target and remove barriers to entrepreneurship for those who identify with historically marginalised communities.

eBay Foundation is proud to announce this year’s Global Give grantees. These 30 inspiring nonprofits serve local communities around the world and will receive a total of $3 million.

As the Foundation continues to evolve and sharpen its strategic focus, so too has this grantmaking program. This year, Global Give shifted away from employee voting in favor of decision-making grounded in trust-based philanthropy. In this way, we are focusing on and fostering more eBay employee engagement with our nonprofit grantees.

“Our new strategy is helping us create deeper relationships with grantees and shift away from historically inequitable practices within philanthropy,”

eBay Foundation President Allie Ottoboni said.

“This enables us to authentically live out eBay’s purpose to unlock economic opportunity for all.”

The Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations that are addressing and removing barriers to entrepreneurship for people who identify with historically excluded groups. And this year’s grantees reflect that. They include: Pacific Community Ventures which provides pro bono small business advising across the U.S. – connecting small businesses with expert advisors. Entrepreneurial Training for Innovative Communities in Japan, which nurtures young entrepreneurs, helping them to become leaders who solve social problems in their communities. And I.S.I. e.v. (Initiative of Self-Employed Immigrant Women) which supports migrant female entrepreneurs in Germany through training, access and support.

Some of our other grantees include:

Youth Employment Services in Toronto empowers vulnerable youth to become self-sufficient and integrates entrepreneurship skills workshops in tandem with other vital training and support.

Hatch in the U.K. supports women and other marginalized genders, minority communities, and founders with disabilities through a range of support, from events to launchpad, incubator and accelerator programs along with mentoring, financial coaching, and one to one consultancy.

Catalysr in Australia supports immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs to launch their own start-ups.

At eBay, each of us plays a role in living our purpose. We connect people and build communities to create economic opportunities for all. Our purpose is more than who we are as a business, it’s at the heart of who we are as people. Join us in supporting or volunteering with a Global Give grantee where you live — or virtually around the world — that help entrepreneurs create jobs, fuel economies and enrich our already vibrant communities.
