Campbell Brothers, a wholesale meat supplier in the UK, has launched a new ‘Responsible Sourcing’ guide as part of its sustainability efforts.
The guide is designed to improve supply chain transparency and shows customers how their products are sourced and handled from farm to plate.
The company noted that meat and poultry are the top category where customers pay attention to sustainability claims—accounting for 40% of consumer focus. This shows that people increasingly want to know more about animal welfare and the origin of their food, making transparency more important than ever.

The Responsible Sourcing guide was developed by Campbell Brothers’ Sustainability, Sales, and Health and Food Safety teams. It zeroes in on the company’s work in quality management, partnerships with local farmers, ethical and sustainable sourcing, product certifications, and industry trends.
This guide will be updated every year to keep up with changing practices and standards. Its sister brand, Direct Seafoods, will also publish its updated sustainability guide in 2025/2026.
Neil McCole, Sales Director at Campbell Brothers, said the guide represents the company’s responsibility to the whole foodservice supply chain—from farmers and producers to chefs and consumers.
He also added that by being transparent about sourcing standards and working with respected partners like Dunbia, AHDB (Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board), QMS (Quality Meat Scotland), and the Red Tractor assurance scheme, Campbell Brothers aims to set a benchmark for trust and integrity in the industry.

The company believes that responsible sourcing benefits everyone. Ensuring that ingredients are sourced ethically and sustainably helps build stronger trust between farmers, suppliers, and consumers, while also meeting the growing demand for sustainability and quality in the food industry.
