Meliá Hotels International, Spain's leading hotel company, has received the highest rating in the global travel industry in the most recent S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), an assessment of companies' performance in terms of sustainability in 2022.

Meliá Hotels International has made significant progress in its sustainability efforts over the past few years. Participating in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment since 2018 and achieving the top position in the ranking for the hotel industry in Spain and Europe, as well as second place globally, is quite an accomplishment.

Even though the latest assessment was more strict, Meliá was still able to get the highest rating, which shows how committed the company is to sustainability.

Gabriel Escarrer, Executive Vice President and CEO of Meliá, said: “In the current complex business environment, sustainability has become one of the most important values for companies, and for Meliá, especially due to the family nature of our business, it is now a key factor in driving our transformation and responding to the demands and expectations of our customers, employees, shareholders and investors, hotel owners, and society in general. For all of them, we are proud to have once again achieved this recognition as the most sustainable hotel company in the world."
