NYK was on a panel that discussed alternative marine fuels at the 22nd Singapore International Bunkering Conference & Exhibition (SIBCON 2022), which took place from October 4 to 7.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore hosts SIBCON, one of the world's largest conferences on maritime fuel supply. This year's theme was "driving the transformation of marine fuels," and several multinational companies, including port officials, marine fuel suppliers, and consumers, attended the conference.
Takahiro Rokuroda, deputy general manager of NYK's Green Business Group, took part in a panel discussion titled "Alternatives Business Case: Ammonia and Hydrogen" on the second day of the event, discussing policies, roadblocks, technology assessment, investment, and business strategies for the practical application of ammonia and hydrogen fuel.
In February 2021, NYK released the "NYK Group ESG Story" to further integrate ESG into the company's management strategy and promote business activities that help reach the SDGs. In March of this year, NYK released the updated "NYK Group ESG Story 2022." In the "NYK Group ESG Story," the Group explains how it plans to integrate ESG into its management strategies. The report also explains some of the Group's long-term plans for sustainable growth.
Also, NYK has created the "NYK GREEN EARTH" brand to highlight the company's ESG efforts to create new value initiatives for low carbon and decarbonization through green businesses, such as the development of next-generation fuels like ammonia and hydrogen.
