ENEOS, Mitsubishi Team Up for H2 and Decarbonised Fuels
Mitsubishi Corp

ENEOS Corporation (ENEOS) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) announced a new collaboration to explore the social implementation of hydrogen and decarbonised fuels.
This expands their existing partnership focused on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Building a Clean Hydrogen Economy
ENEOS, with its experience running hydrogen stations in Japan, aims to create a CO2-free hydrogen supply chain. They will leverage government support programmes to develop hydrogen solutions for domestic industrial areas.
MC brings expertise in developing and commercialising next-generation energy sources like hydrogen. They are committed to achieving a carbon-neutral society through "Energy Transformation" (EX) initiatives.
The MOU Focuses On
Developing a Hydrogen Supply Chain using Methylcyclohexane (MCH): This liquid hydrogen carrier simplifies storage and transportation (it takes up 1/500th the space of hydrogen gas!).
Creating Overseas Demand for CO2-Free Hydrogen: The collaboration will explore opportunities to generate and utilise clean hydrogen beyond Japan's borders.
Promoting Hydrogen Use in Transportation: This includes supporting the widespread adoption of commercially viable fuel cell vehicles (FCVs).
Advancing Synthetic Fuels: The MOU looks at developing carbon-neutral fuels made from CO2-free hydrogen. These fuels hold promise for reducing emissions in transportation sectors like automotive, aviation, and shipping.
Shared Commitment to Sustainability
Both ENEOS and MC recognise climate change as a major challenge. By working together, they aim to accelerate the creation of next-generation energy supply chains and establish strong demand for clean hydrogen solutions.
